A Musical Monday Duet: Dex-Starr and Satana Sing Cliff Richard

In the year since my last "Musical Monday" post, I've gotten a few more sketches in my sketchbook...and now that I've shared all my Golden Age Sketchbook drawings, let's go back where we left off, shall we?

This time, I've got not one, but two sketches to share: Two artists, two characters, but one song. Specifically, two unrelated characters embodying two consecutive verses of Cliff Richard's "Devil Woman." First, Peter Cutler offers this scene of Dex-Starr, that cat with them evil eyes:

Then, Geoffrey Gwin presents Marvel's resident "Devil Woman," Satana.

Now that I've gotten up-to-date with posting my Musical Sketchbook collection, I'm now going to start sharing scans from the other sketchbook I've been keeping over the years...a sketchbook devoted to Golden Age characters.

I started this collection back in 1992, when Martin Nodell was a guest at a local convention. After all, when you have a legend of the Golden Age attending, you can't miss an opportunity like that. I'm honored to have had him get the book off to such a beautiful start.

Musical Monday: Guy Gardner Sings The Jody Grind

And now, the Musical Monday sketch that SallyP has been waiting for...Joe Phillips (from the '90s Mr. Miracle series) draws Guy Gardner, accompanied by a line from "Just Because You Wear Big Shoes," from The Jody Grind's 1990 album "One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure."

One of my favorite aspects to this character/song pairing is that it can be interpreted in two ways. The line could be talking ABOUT Guy, disparaging his immaturity (as he was generally written at the time) and his choice of footwear...or it could be spoken BY Guy, issuing a challenge to his opponents.

Musical Monday: John Stewart Sings Badfinger

When I got this sketch, "Green Lantern: Mosaic" was in full swing, and I had recently watched The Magic Christian for the first time. Hearing the haunting Badfinger ballad "Carry On Till Tomorrow," it struck me how the lyrics could apply to John Stewart's situation. Cully Hamner obliged with this striking portrait.
In younger days, I told myself
My life would be my own,
And I'd leave the place
Where sunshine never shone.
For my life's too short for waiting,
When I see the setting sun,
Then I know again
That I must carry on...

A Quick Green Lantern Question

A thought that just occurred to me:

Has there ever been a Green Lantern story, either in the Silver Age or later, that dealt with the idea of a GL candidate being found who had all the necessary qualifications...but couldn't actually use the ring because his/her/its body was yellow? (Yes, I suppose that could be gotten around by wearing different-colored clothing, but that would still probably mean that any exposed areas would still be unprotected by the ring.)

A Random GL Thought

Something that just occurred to me, with the revelation of the 7 Corps of the "Emotional Spectrum"...how does Rot Lop Fan perceive the different Corps? Which tone corresponds to which emotion for him? If a member of Rot Lop Fan's race were selected for each corps, what would they call themselves?
