Remember Whens-Day: Captain America by Mark Bagley

And this brings me up to date on my Golden Age sketchbook, with my most recent acquisition from this year's DragonCon: A headshot of Captain America by Mark Bagley.

What will I do now? Well, I've gotten a few more contributions in my Musical Sketchbook, so we'll see a brief return of "Musical Monday." After that, I'll have to come up with actual content of my own (the horror!). Future posts may be sporadic (like that's new), but I've got a few ideas...

Remember Whens-Day: Batman by David Lloyd

Batman by David Lloyd. Wow.
I only wish David Lloyd had actually done a Batman story. Specifically, as much as I love Klaus Janson's work, I really wish that David Lloyd had illustrated Grant Morrison's "Gothic" storyline in Legends of the Dark Knight. Not only was that one of the few points in time when it would have been likely for Lloyd to do a Batman story (before he moved on to his own personal projects), but I feel Lloyd's style would have been more suitably "Gothic" than Janson's. (Again, no disrespect to Janson.)

Remember Whens-Day: Captain Triumph by Jeff Austin

Although he usually works as an inker, Jeff Austin is a pretty snazzy penciller in his own right, as demonstrated by this sketch of Captain Triumph.

Remember Whens-Day: Captain Marvel by Judd Winick

Presenting Captain 'I Won't Call Him Shazam' Marvel, as drawn by Judd Winick. You know, I think I'd kind of enjoy seeing a Captain Marvel story drawn by Winick...problem is, he'd probably be writing it as well.

Remember Whens-Day: Inkie by Patty Leidy

Here's an obscurity from the pages of Crack Comics: Inkie was a cartoon character who would emerge from the drawn page and interact with his cartoonists, including creator Al Stahl and the legendary Jack Cole (who worked on two Inkie stories). Patty Leidy continues the tradition with this self-caricature berated by a rather more demanding Inkie:
