I didn't read the book out of indifference (I've never really gotten into The Authority that much, and WildC.A.T.S. not at all), but with
all that's been written about Chuck Dixon recently, I just want to ask...what exactly was so bad about
Grifter and Midnighter?

Sorry, my first attempt ended up less than coherent:
Please keep in mind that this is my opinion so someone else reading it may not have gotten the same impression.
For me it was a lot of really really awful stereotyping and dialogue, really. I think Apollo ended up the worst offender, recast into a sniping bitchy stereotype at a particular point. Midnighter suffered somewhat less, but sill seemed to have this sudden self-hatred/scorn for his partner that was quite appalling.
Admittedly, this is just my personal take on it, so it's possible that for other readers context and in-character explanations (influence of possible mind alteration/Character A is an ass by nature/that sort of thing) might make it more palatable. Personally though I was VERY unimpressed.
